About Event
The XI National e-Business Days Conference took place on 10–11 May 2019 at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. It was nominated for the Top 5 events taking place at the Nicolaus Copernicus University and, in accordance with the University’s regulations, considered a National Conference, as at least five academic centres in Poland participated, including: University of Economics in Katowice, Maria Składowska-Curie University in Lublin, Gdańsk University of Technology, University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz, Higher School of Banking in Toruń, University of Stravanger and Dublin City University.
The presentations of the speakers oscillated around the dynamically developing market of new technologies, thanks to which we learned what kinds of business ideas have a chance to make a revolution.
The strategic partner of the conference was First Data, the gold partners were the Polish Payment Standard, Modern Business Management and Gemalto, while partners included the National Clearing House, Orange Finance, Santander Polska, Vobacom, Asysto.pl, Fenige, uPaid. The honorary patrons of the conference were: the Marshal’s Office in Toruń, the Polish Bank Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Toruń. Moreover, for the first time in the history of the e-Business Days Conference, the Ministry of Finance was among the patrons. The media patronage was assumed by: TVP Bydgoszcz, Spod Kopca, Radiosfera and UMK TV.
During the XI National e-Business Days Conference, speakers represented the following institutions: Orange Finance, mBank, Modern Business Management, Pricely, the National Bank of Poland, Fenige, the Social Insurance Institution, Pekao S.A., SAS Polska, eService, Mastercard, and others.
The event was addressed both to experts in the new technologies sector, other professionals already belonging to the e-business sector and e-business enthusiasts who could gain the latest industry knowledge. The presented topic was also of interest to students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, academics, enterprises and also organisations cooperating with our University.
In addition, the Scientific Club together with Orange Finance prepared a competition for students entitled “Bank of the future”. The competition task was to prepare a presentation about the vision of a bank of the future. The latest iPhone X S 256GB awaited the winner. Apart from that, other competitions were available to the conference participants, with prizes including Smartwatches, smartbands, tablets, funded by the conference partners.
On the second day of the XI National e-Business Days Conference, parallel to the main lectures, a Session of Young Scientists was held, during which students from various academic centres in Poland could hold presentations on electronic banking, modern technological solutions in the world of e-finance. The first place was taken by Żaneta Wieczorek from the Nicolaus Copernicus University with a lecture “Will solutions based on telematic systems revolutionise the insurance market”, the second place was taken by Aneta Kłosowska from the Nicolaus Copernicus University with the topic “Pay by crypto – a new form of payment”, and the third place went to representatives of the University of Economics in Katowice – Paulina Iwan, Anna Świtalik and Aleksandra Piecuch, who presented the topic “Cryptocurrency as a speculative bubble (?)”.
XI National e-Business Days Conference enjoyed great interest on the part of students, academics, as well as invited guests, as exemplified by the large attendance at the lectures held.
